| Beginning Hand Applique— Learn three methods of hand appliqué in this one session class offered at 2 different times. Maria will teach 2 methods of needle turn with the blind stitch (freezer paper on top and freezer paper on bottom), as well as fusible with a buttonhole stitch. You will get practice with points, convex and concave curves, and stems. This class is offered at two separate times. Dates : Saturday, Jan. 26 OR Sat. March 22 Times: 10am—12:30 Teacher: Maria Connolly Cost: $15 plus supplies (a kit will be available for purchase for $5.00) Hand Applique, The Sequel- This class is for those that have learned the basics of hand appliqué, points, convex and concave curves, and wish to take their appliqué to the next level. One focus in this class will be how to appliqué bias strips. In this class you will appliqué an actual design that will include bias strips. This class is offered at two separate times. Dates : Saturday, Jan. 26 OR March 22 Time: 1:30—4 pm Teacher: Maria Connolly Cost: $15 plus supplies (a kit will be available for purchase) Tumbling Blocks - Are you ready to go beyond the basics of sewing strips? Learn dot to dot sewing or set in seams. This is a very traditional pattern that is lots of fun to piece. We will use Marti Michell’s rotary cutting templates. Date: Sat., February 2 Time: 1:30-4 Teacher: Brenda Asmus Cost: $20 plus supplies Beginning Quilting— Learn the basics of quilting from rotary cutting to putting together the whole top. Candace will demonstrate the techniques for you to go home and do on your own. This is a 6 session class. Dates: Tuesdays, Feb. 5 & 19, March 4 & 18, and April 1 & 15 Time: 7-9 pm Teacher—Candace Tull Cost— $60 plus supplies Minnesota Hot dish— This fun and easy pattern can be made in lots of different looks. Make it scrappy or use a color scheme. It is a great quilt for using fat quarters. Date: Friday, Feb. 8 Time: 9am—3:30 pm Teacher: Dea Heller Cost: $35 pluls supplies Binding— Bindings are the most common problem people have with their quilts. Learn how to finish your quilt with a professional binding. Learn how to miter corners, do bias bindings, and how to join your binding. Date: Saturday, February 16 Time: 10am—1pm Teacher: Glenda Harris Cost: $20 plus supplies Bobbin Embellishments— Add to your quilting techniques by putting fancy threads in the bobbin. This is really fun and opens up a whole new realm of possibilities. (You will want to have an extra bobbin case for your machine). | Kaleidoscope quilt — Using Marti Michel’s templates and easy piecing, you will make this fascinating quilt with straight piecing that gives the illusion of a curve. Date: Saturday, January 5 Time: 1—5 pm Teacher: Brenda Asmus Cost: $35 plus supplies Ruff Around the Edges- Make this adorable quilt with simple pieced nine patches and squares surrounded by adorable appliquéd pooches. You will learn strip piecing, on point settings, and fusible machine appliqué. This is a two session class. Dates: Fridays, Jan. 11 and Feb. 1 Time: 9am—3pm Teacher: Dea Heller Cost: $35 plus supplies Beginning Quilting— Learn the basics of quilting from choosing fabric to putting it all together, using the Checkerboard Square pattern. A 6 session class, Dea will be teaching two sessions a day, one morning and one afternoon. Bring a lunch. Dates: Saturdays, Jan. 12, Feb. 9 & March 8 Time: 9 am—3:30 pm Teacher: Dea Heller Cost: $105.00 plus supplies Beginning Quilting - Learn the basics of quilting while making a 6 block sampler with sashing and border. You will learn how to rotary cut, piece accurately, sandwich your quilt, do simple machine quilting, and finish it off with binding. When class is over, you will have a finished quilt ready to use. This is a 6 session class. Dates: Wednesdays, January 16, 23, & 30, and February 6, 13, & 20 Time: 9 am—1 pm Teacher: Lois Smith Cost: $60.00 plus supplies “I Spy” - Using Marti Michell’s templates, you will fussy cut hexagons from fun motifs or highlight fabrics and sew them into this fun and fast quilt. The hexagons are all strip pieced with no set in seams. This is a great class for advanced beginners and beyond. Date: Monday, Jan. 21 Time: 10-2 Teacher: Brenda Asmus Cost: $25 plus supplies Shawl Jacket - Make this lovely yet simple jacket that is perfect for our South Texas weather. | Stepping Out Jacket— Make this beautiful unlined jacket from Black Cat Creations. This jacket features a stylish button front closure and would look great in decorator fabrics, denim, cottons, or chenille. Date: Friday, February 22 Time: 10am-1pm Teacher: JoAnn McEwen Cost: $25 plus supplies Bead Embroidery on Fabric - This class will teach various techniques used in hand beading on fabric. Several techniques will be taught, that can then be used to create beautiful beaded landscape quilts or to embellish jackets, purses, and other items. This is a technique class, not a project class. Date: Saturday, February 23 Time: 10am—2:30 (bring a sack lunch) Teacher: Eileen Josiah Cost: 45 plus supplies Play With Paint Stiks - Have fun with one of the newest ideas in quilting—paint stiks. You will learn different techniques to get various looks when you use these fun tools as you make a small wall hanging. Date: Monday, February 25 Time: 10am-3pm Teacher: Lois Smith Cost: $30 plus supplies The Emily Skirt - This is a yoked A-Line skirt with a small amount of ease that is designed to fit just below the waist. This skirt pattern comes with 3 variations, in two different lengths with various embellishment ideas. A fun skirt for sizes XXS to XXL.
