CLASS SCHEDULE
Beyond Basics-
Are you ready to expand your quilting
techniques? In this five-week class
you will create a unique sampler row
quilt while piecing a variety of six and
twelve inch blocks. You will perfect
your skills with triangles while you
make Pinwheels and a Wild Goose
Chase block. You’ll use precise ¼”
seams on Log Cabin blocks, and get
comfortable with y-seams while we
make an Eight Pointed Star and an
Attic Windows block. You will also
learn needle-turn appliqué and some
design techniques. In the last class
you will put it all together and learn
about quilting options—machine or
hand quilting. This class will require
some homework. This is a 5 session
class.

Quilted Landscape-
With all the fun landscape fabrics out
today, doing a landscape quilt is easy
and fun to do. Nancy will walk you
through the steps to create your own
landscape. This is a 2 session class.
Dates: Saturdays, Jan. 23 & 30
Time: 9:00 am -3:30 pm

Beg. Quilt Sampler-
This series of classes will teach you
everything you need to know about
quilting . You will make a sampler
quilt; which is a quilt made of different
types of blocks, each teaching a different
method. You will learn strip piecing,
½ triangle squares, ¼ triangle
squares, flying geese, curved piecing
and paper piecing. You will also get
ideas on how to set your blocks and
add borders. Demos on basting, quilting
and binding your quilt will also be given.
Classes are held here, but
you must register through NISD.

Checkerboard Square
Beginning Quilting—
Learn the basics of quilting from
choosing fabric to putting it all together,
using the Checkerboard
Square pattern. A 6 session class, Dea
will be teaching two sessions a day,
one morning and one afternoon. Bring
a lunch.

Beginning Paper
Piecing, Table runner-
Would you like to learn how to do
shapes that you wouldn’t dare try
piecing? Come learn the art of
paper piecing. We will be making
a small project with 3 different
blocks. You will also get to take
home 2 more blocks at the end of
class.
Date: Saturday, Feb. 27
Time: 1 pm—5 pm

Beyond Beginners
Hand Applique-
This class is for those that have
learned the basics of hand appliqué,
points, convex and concave
curves, and wish to take their appliqué
to the next level. This class
can accommodate both intermediate
and advanced students. One
focus in this class will be how to
appliqué bias strips. In this class
you will appliqué an actual design
that will include bias strips.
Date: Thursday, March 18
Time: 10am—1pm

Cost: $15 plus supplies (a kit
will be available for purchase)
Beginning Quilting -
This class is for the person who has
never quilted or someone who wants
to learn how to do it right. We will discuss
fabric, how to cut fabric with a
rotary cutter and how to sew using a
scant ¼” seam. We will be making two
blocks a week so that we will have a
small quilt measuring 46” x 60” when
we’re done. Plan on having lots of fun
and being totally amazed at what you
can do. This is a 6 session class.

I Can’t Believe It’s a
Sweatshirt!-
Really! This jacket is so cute that you
will have to convince folks that it was
made out of a sweatshirt! No real
clothing construction involved. Just
start with an oversized sweatshirt and
8 fat quarters! What you will end up
with is a WOW jacket. The pattern is
so clever you have very little waste
from the fat quarters. You can use
your favorite fabric combination and
add some specialty thread to create a
one of a kind wearable that is super
comfortable.

Beginning Hand Applique—
Learn three methods of hand appliqué
in this one session class. Maria will
teach 2 methods of needle turn with
the blind stitch (freezer paper on top
and freezer paper on bottom), as well
as fusible with a buttonhole stitch. You
will get practice with points, convex
and concave curves, and stems.

Fat Quarter Log Cabin -
Log Cabin is such a traditional pattern
and so flexible! This class is perfect
for new quilters or anyone who has a
desire to make a Log Cabin quilt!
Brenda will show you how to use the
“From Marti Michell” Log Cabin ruler
for fast and accurate cutting. Brenda
will show examples of different ways to
make the Log Cabin block. Once you
have experienced the ease of this
technique, you will be making Log
Cabin quilts for everyone on your list!

Bloomin’ Nine Patch-
Although this quilt design looks
complicated,
it is actually very simple to
make. The secret is in the fabric selection.
It consists of alternating Nine
Patch blocks and plain squares set on
point. The first class will be on how to
pick your fabric and the second will be
on the construction and how to make
setting triangles. You will be amazed
how beautiful this simple quilt is.
